It posed as Manhattan, then split in two — kind of. San Francisco's biggest underground hip-hop/house/world music dance club was recently featured in the movie version of the East Village–centered musical Rent (those fakers!), and then, in honor of its sixth anniversary, opened a new addition, The Dark Room, to better accommodate all the wild Sixth Street clubbers pouring through its portals.

    Come celebrate as Mighty debuts the west coast “Special Disco Version†with Pat Mahoney and James Murphy. James and Pat will be spinning nothing but disco cuts straight from vinyl sure to induce “rug cutting†on the dance floor. With custom visuals by AC (Donuts!) Mighty will convert into a classic discotheque fresh for 2008. Special Disco Version premiere’s Thursday August 7th. Doors are at 9pm.

    The basement is a bit dirty, but it's very cheap. Maybe a little too dark in certain places, WATCH OUT FOR THE UGLIES...But then again, even they need love. (yeah!)

    pricey cocktails most nights, but usually little or no cover charge. Ive seen many cool hip hop acts here. AND you can puff in the basement hallway again!
